We bade a fond farewell to colleage and friend, Jane Allen - our renowned and much-loved Reception Class Teacher and Deputy Head of Prep School. 'Miss Allen' has worked at the school for 31 years, initially hailing from Arnold School prior to the merger which formed AKS Lytham in 2013.
Jane is one of the longest-standing members of the school staff and has played a central role in the development of all our children who have had the priviledge of coming through her Reception Class. This has included working magic on phonics (her 'Fred and Frieda' puppeteering with teaching assistant, Mrs Walsh being a particular highlight); and building solid foundation skills in Maths, as well as introducing children to a raft of new skills in her sewing and board games clubs.
Head of Prep School, Amanda Ilhan, commented, "Her calm presence never wavers, and she has supported me resolutely through the development of the Nursery and Prep School during the last five years, with 150 more children coming into the Nursery and Prep School, totalling just under 350 children now (a 75% increase.) Miss Allen’s reputation with parents is outstanding. They value her experience, honesty and straight-talking feedback. The children who have been in her class have had the best start possible to the Prep School. The staff’s support towards Miss Allen is one of respect and they value her guidance. She has organised the day-to-day running of the school with poise and grace."
Whilst Jane will be sorely missed, we know we are in great hands with our new, enlarged Reception Class team, and we look forward to welcoming her back to hear about her adventures in the years to come.
