Former Head Student Returns to Inspire Future Oxbridge Applicants
It was wonderful to welcome OAKS alumna and former Head Student Pippa McGregor back to AKS last week as she returned to share her experiences of studying at Cambridge University with students considering an Oxbridge route.
Pippa, who left AKS in 2024, is currently studying English at Selwyn College, Cambridge, and is about to begin her final year. Drawing on her own experience of the journey from AKS to Cambridge, she offered students valuable advice and an honest insight into university life.
During an informal lunch with students, Pippa answered questions on a range of topics, from subject choices and academic interests to preparing university applications and making the most of opportunities both in and beyond the classroom.
For students considering Oxford or Cambridge, hearing directly from a recent AKS leaver provided a valuable perspective. Pippa spoke openly about her own experiences and highlighted the importance of curiosity, academic engagement and making the most of every opportunity along the way.
As an alumna who was sitting in their shoes only a few years ago, Pippa's visit was a reminder that the journey to university is about much more than grades. It is also about developing interests, embracing opportunities and making the most of the experiences available throughout school life.
We are incredibly grateful to Pippa for taking the time to return to AKS and support the next generation of students. It was wonderful to welcome her back and see one of our alumni sharing their experience and encouraging others as they begin to consider their own future pathways.
