Fondly Remembered |
A fondly remembered Queen Mary teacher passed away at Starr Hills Retirement Home in Lytham on 23 May 2025.
Joan Bellett, 91, known then as Joan Allen, taught English at Queen Mary School from 1970-1979.
She will be remembered for her great energy, enthusiasm, and ability to inspire her students. Her world of poetry and creativity was open to everyone.
After Queen Mary, Joan was head of department at Blackpool College, then lectured at West Bridgeford College and Ealing College of Higher Education.
After her retirement, she looked for and found a new life in Florida. She travelled round the world twice.
During Covid, Joan briefly sought peace and quiet back in her beautiful Lytham, celebrating life with her friends.
A short service in her memory will take place at Lytham Park Cemetery and Crematorium at 12.15 on Thursday 19 June 2025 preceding her cremation.
The flag at AKS will be flown at half-mast to recognise Joan's career at Queen Mary School.
