Alumnus Peter Shakeshaft Donates Copies of His Book to AKS Lytham

We were delighted to receive copies of alumnus Peter Shakeshaft's book *Lytham Priory: A History*, which he donated to the senior school library and history department at AKS Lytham. This invaluable addition will enhance our students' understanding of local history.

Head of History, Hannah Jenkinson, praised the donation, noting the book's educational value:

"Religious history has long been a source of interest for students due to its inherent nature to stoke the flames of conflict. *Lytham Priory: A History* enables students to delve into a local example of religious life that will aid their learning across the key stages. For students in Year 7 who study the life of monks and nuns, the book enables them to understand what daily life was like for those important members of society. Students in Year 8 study the Break with Rome, so having a local focal point will enable them to understand the complexities of the Dissolution of the Monasteries further. The book is clearly a labour of love and serves as a prime example of not only the importance of religious history, but also of understanding bigger historical events from a local perspective."

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Peter Shakeshaft for his thoughtful contribution, which will undoubtedly inspire and educate our students for years to come.
