Alumni News |
On Friday 25th April, AKS welcomed back a distinguished alumnus of King Edward VII School, Mark Kerrone, for an inspiring session with our Year 12 students. Now leading the UK Cloud Transformation Practice at KPMG, Mark returned not only to share his journey but to ignite a conversation about one of the most powerful forces shaping our student’s futures: Artificial Intelligence.
Mark, who studied at KES from 1988 to 1995, spoke with authenticity, humour and real-world expertise. From his early days selling telecom services to now advising multinational organisations, Mark’s career illustrates the power of adaptability and lifelong learning - qualities we strive to instil in all AKS students.
During his session, students explored questions that are on every parent’s mind:
Mark didn’t just answer those questions - he challenged students to think bigger. Tracing AI’s roots back to the 1920s and highlighting how 90% of the world’s data has been generated in just the last two years, he offered a compelling overview of AI’s potential and its growing influence across every industry.
Importantly, he addressed both the promise and the responsibility that come with AI. From improving healthcare and tackling climate change to ethical concerns and environmental impact, students were encouraged to think critically and responsibly about the future they will help shape.
His message to students was clear: The most valuable skills in a world of AI are the most human ones. Emotional intelligence, ethical thinking and problem-solving will only grow in importance as technology continues to evolve.
Thank you Mark for inspiring our students!
